The Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences (HSSS) recognizes the achievements of outstanding scientists with the Halász Medal Award, the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award, the Prisma Award in Memoriam Szabolcs Nyiredy, and the Ervin sz. Kováts Award for Young Scientists.

The Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences founded the Halász Medal Award in 1997 to salute the memory of István Halász (1922–1988).

The Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences founded the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award in 2004 to preserve the memory of Csaba Horváth (1930–2004). In 2010, the Csaba Horváth Medal of the Connecticut Separation Science Council (CSSC) and the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award of the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences were united and now the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award is jointly presented by the two scientific societies. The joint award of HSSS and CSSC is presented in alternating years in Hungary and Connecticut.

To salute the memory of its founding president, Szabolcs Nyiredy (1950-2006), in 2008 the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences established the Prisma Award in Memoriam Szabolcs Nyiredy for young Hungarian scientists to recognize outstanding research in the field of separation sciences. The award is presented at the National Separation Science Meetings organized in every even year.

To preserve the memory of Ervin Sz. Kováts (1927-2012), Mrs. Lucienne Kováts and the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences founded the Ervin sz. Kováts award for young scientists in 2017.

The Ervin sz. Kováts award for young scientists honors PhD dissertations accomplished by young researchers, defended or published in the two years preceding the call. The award is presented every two years at the Balaton Symposia.
